Wellness in Every Cup

At Yerba Buena Tea Co., we believe tea should be functional. Our herbal loose leaf blends are formulated to support specific needs:

  • Sleep & Anxiety: Potent nervous system support using Kava Root, Passionflower, and Skullcap (found in our best-selling Good Night blend) to quiet the mind.
  • Digestion & Gut Health: We use high-grade Ginger, Peppermint, and Fennel to soothe upset stomachs and support healthy digestion after meals.
  • Immunity & Vitality: Blends rich in Elderberry, Echinacea, and Rosehips provide a natural boost of Vitamin C and antioxidants during cold season.

What is Herbal Tea (Tisane)?

Technically, "herbal tea" isn't tea at all! True tea comes from the Camellia sinensis plant (like Green or Black tea). Our herbal blends, known properly as tisanes, are crafted from dried organic botanicals. Because they contain no tea leaves, they are naturally caffeine-free.

Why Choose Organic Loose Leaf?

Quality matters when you are steeping plants for health. Conventional tea bags often contain microplastics and pesticide residues ("dust"). Our organic loose leaf herbal tea is free from "natural flavors," sweeteners, and artificial additives. You are drinking nothing but pure, whole-plant ingredients, ensuring maximum essential oils and therapeutic benefits in every steep.

How to Brew Herbal Tea

Unlike delicate green teas, herbal blends love heat! To extract the full flavor and benefits from roots and dried fruits, use boiling water (212°F). Cover your cup or teapot to keep the essential oils from escaping with the steam, and steep for 5 to 7 minutes. For a stronger medicinal brew, you can steep for up to 10 minutes without bitterness.

Your Questions About Herbal Teas, Answered.

What is the difference between herbal and regular tea?

Regular teas (like black and green) come from the Camellia sinensis plant and naturally contain caffeine. Herbal teas, or tisanes, are infusions made from any other plant, such as chamomile, peppermint, or ginger, and are almost always caffeine-free.

Are all herbal teas caffeine-free?

Almost all of them are! The only major exception is Yerba Mate, a South American plant that naturally contains caffeine for energy. Because it acts differently than other herbs, we gave it its own dedicated Yerba Mate Teas. Everything else in this collection is 100% caffeine-free.

How long should I brew herbal teas?

Herbal teas are very forgiving. Because they don't have tannins (which make black tea bitter), you can't really "over-steep" them. We recommend using boiling water and steeping for at least 5-7 minutes to fully extract the benefits from the dense roots and dried fruits.
