TEA EDUCATION & SUPPORT

Why choose organic loose leaf tea over tea bags?

Loose leaf tea consists of whole, unbroken leaves that retain their natural essential oils and full flavor profile. Unlike many standard tea bags, which often contain "dust" or fannings and can be made with plastics, our organic loose leaf tea provides a cleaner, richer taste and is 100% biodegradable. It is the superior choice for both wellness and sustainability.

Which tea collection is best for energy vs. sleep?

If you are looking for clean energy without the jitters, explore our Yerba Mate or Green Tea collections. For winding down, our Herbal Tea and Rooibos collections are naturally caffeine-free. Our best-selling "Good Night" blend is specifically crafted to support restful sleep.

How do I brew loose leaf tea properly?

Brewing is simple: Use 1 teaspoon of tea per 8oz of water. For herbal and black teas, use boiling water (212°F) and steep for 3-5 minutes. For delicate green and white teas, use slightly cooler water (175°F-185°F) and steep for 2-3 minutes to avoid bitterness. We recommend using a tea infuser or French press.

Are Yerba Buena Tea Co. blends gluten-free and vegan?

Yes. All of our teas are hand-blended in Oregon using 100% certified organic ingredients. We do not use any "natural flavors," additives, sweeteners, gluten, or animal products. You are drinking nothing but pure, organic herbs and tea leaves.

How long does loose leaf tea stay fresh?

Because we hand-blend in small batches, our tea is incredibly fresh when it reaches you. To maintain that quality, store your tea in a cool, dark place away from moisture. When stored properly in our signature tins or sealed bags, loose leaf tea stays fresh and flavorful for up to 2 years.
