About Tummy Bliss

The after-dinner cup.

This is the cup for the way a meal likes to end. Cooling peppermint leads, sweet fennel follows, and marshmallow root brings a soft, silky body to the brew. Chamomile rounds it with a gentle floral note. Sweet, minty, soft on the finish.

The herbs in the cup.

Peppermint and fennel bring a cooling, anise-sweet character that has closed European, Mediterranean, and Indian after-dinner tables for centuries. Marshmallow root releases a gel-like silkiness when steeped, the same root that once gave the candy its name. Chamomile is a long-loved evening flower, traditionally enjoyed at the close of the day. Ginger and calendula round it out with a warming snap and a soft floral edge. Blended in our Salem, Oregon kitchen.

How to brew it.

Steep strong, drink it warm. 1.5 teaspoons in 8 ounces of full-boil water, 6 minutes. The boil draws out the bright oils in the peppermint and fennel. The longer steep lets the marshmallow root release its silky body, which gives the cup its coating sweetness. Sip it hot, or let it cool to lukewarm for a softer, rounder cup. Sip slow either way. Blended in our Salem, Oregon kitchen.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Sweet and minty. The anise-like scent of fennel meets fresh peppermint, with a soft floral undertone from the chamomile and calendula.

Flavor: Smooth and cooling. Peppermint and ginger lead. The marshmallow root settles in with a coating sweetness that holds the cup together.

Finish: Soft, sweet, soothing. Closer to a tonic than a tea.

Why You'll Love It

Marshmallow Root: Althaea officinalis has a long place in Western herbalism, with mentions going back to ancient Greece. The root is rich in mucilage, a slippery polysaccharide that turns gel-like when steeped and gives the cup its silky, coating sweetness. Same plant family as the candy, named for the same root, though the candy left the herb behind along the way.

Peppermint and Fennel: Bright, oil-rich herbs that have closed European, Mediterranean, and Indian after-dinner tables for centuries. Peppermint brings the cooling lift; fennel brings a sweet, anise-like note.

Chamomile: A classic evening flower with a long place in Western herbalism, traditionally enjoyed at the close of the day for well over 2,000 years. Soft, floral, and gently sweet.

Ginger and Calendula: Ginger brings a warming snap and has long been a staple of Ayurvedic and Western herbal kitchens. Calendula adds gentle bitter tones and a soft floral note that rounds the blend's flavor.

A few notes from our teamakers.

The After-Dinner Cup
1.5 teaspoons in 8 ounces of full-boil water, steep 6 minutes. Drink it hot at the close of a meal. The heat draws out the bright oils in the peppermint and fennel. Best paired with a slow walk and a quiet room.

The Evening Cup
Brew exactly the same way, but pour it in the late afternoon or early evening as the day winds down. Chamomile and calendula are long-loved evening flowers, traditionally enjoyed at the close of the day. Sip slow.

The Silky Sipper
Brew double-strength (2 teaspoons, 8 minutes), then let the cup cool to lukewarm. The marshmallow root brings out its silkiest body as the tea cools. Sip slow. A folk practice that traces back to ancient Greece.

Your Questions About Tummy Bliss, Answered.

How quickly does it work?

It is an after-dinner cup, so most people reach for it at the close of a meal or in the evening. Brew it strong and sip it warm. The peppermint and fennel come through bright and cooling, the marshmallow root brings a silky sweetness, and the chamomile rounds it with a soft floral note. Enjoy it whenever a meal likes to wind down.

Can I drink it every day?

Yes. The blend is gentle and caffeine-free, made for everyday sipping. Many people keep a cup in the evening rotation as a wind-down. Marshmallow root has a long tradition in Western herbalism as an everyday cup.

What's actually in marshmallow root?

Mucilage, mostly. The root of Althaea officinalis contains roughly 5 to 11% mucilage by weight, a complex polysaccharide that turns gel-like when steeped. The gel coats the lining of the digestive tract. That coating action is what makes the cup feel so settling. The candy borrowed the name and the early recipes, but the actual herbal medicine lives in the root.
