About Lemon Ginger Mint

The stomach-settling blend built on four carminatives.

Four herbs, each classified as a carminative in Western herbalism: ginger root warms and moves, spearmint cools and releases, lemongrass and lemon verbena brighten the whole thing with citral-rich oils. Carminatives relax the smooth muscle in the digestive tract and let trapped gas pass, which is why this blend has been the after-meal cup and the nausea cup since we opened. Bright lemon on the front, spicy ginger in the middle, cooling mint on the finish.

Why four, not one.

Ginger alone can be too heating. Mint alone can be too cooling. Lemon alone lacks body. Together, they balance. The ginger provides the warming action that moves digestion forward. The mint provides the cooling counterpoint that settles the cramping. The lemongrass and lemon verbena tie the cup together with a citrus thread that makes the whole thing drinkable, not medicinal. The blend works as a stomach soother, a travel-sickness cup, a post-meal ritual, and a cold-weather immune support all at once.

How to brew it.

1.5 teaspoons in 8 ounces of full-boil water, steep 6 minutes. The ginger root needs the full steep time to release its volatile oils. Drink it hot for the carminative effect, iced for a cooling tonic. Add honey to coat a sore throat. Blended in our Salem, Oregon kitchen.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Bright lemon zest, warm ginger root, fresh mint. The citral from the lemongrass and lemon verbena dominates.

Flavor: Spicy ginger opens the cup, then softens into citrus middle notes, then finishes with cooling spearmint. A full arc from heat to bright to cool.

Finish: Clean, tingly, refreshing. The mint lingers.

Why You'll Love It

Ginger root, the warming carminative: Used across Ayurvedic, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Western herbalism traditions for over 2,000 years. The root contains gingerols and shogaols, volatile compounds that warm the body and support digestion. The same compounds that make ginger spicy are the ones that move stagnation in the gut.

Spearmint, the cooling carminative: Gentler than peppermint, with lower menthol content and a sweeter finish. Used in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern after-meal traditions for centuries. The cooling action balances the heat of the ginger.

Lemongrass and lemon verbena, the citrus pair: Both contain citral, the essential oil that gives lemon its character. Lemon verbena provides a richer, creamier lemon flavor without acidity. Together, they brighten the cup and tie the warming ginger to the cooling mint.

A few notes from our teamakers.

The After-Meal Cup
Brew 1.5 teaspoons in 8 ounces of full-boil water for 6 minutes. Drink hot, 15 to 20 minutes after a heavy meal. The carminative action peaks when the tea is warm. Best paired with a slow walk and a quiet room.

Iced Ginger Lemonade
Brew double-strength (2 teaspoons in 8 ounces, 7 minutes). While still warm, dissolve 1 teaspoon of honey into the cup. Pour over ice. Top with a squeeze of fresh lemon. Drinks like a spa water with depth. The ginger stays warming even when served cold.

The Travel Cup
Brew in a thermos before a long car ride or flight. The ginger settles motion sickness, the mint refreshes, the citrus keeps the cup bright. Sip slow, especially during takeoff or on winding roads. This has been the road-trip cup for customers for years.

Your Questions About Lemon Ginger Mint, Answered.

Does this help with nausea?

Ginger root is one of the most-studied herbs for nausea in modern research, with multiple clinical trials showing effectiveness for motion sickness and post-meal queasiness. The gingerols in the root work on the stomach directly. Spearmint supports by cooling and settling. This blend has been the travel cup and the morning-sickness cup for customers since we opened.

Can I drink this every day?

Yes. All four herbs are classified as GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) by the FDA for daily consumption. The blend is caffeine-free and gentle enough to drink multiple times a day. Many customers use it as an after-meal ritual or an evening wind-down cup.

Is this good for a sore throat?

Ginger provides a mild analgesic (numbing) effect that eases throat irritation. The steam from a hot cup helps open the sinuses. Add a teaspoon of honey while the tea is still warm. The honey coats the throat and amplifies the soothing effect. This has been the cold-season cup for years.
