About Pumpkin Spice

The Grown-Up PSL

We believe the best part of a Pumpkin Spice Latte is the spice, not the syrup. Our Pumpkin Spice is a robust, organic black tea blended with the actual ingredients of a homemade pie: Cinnamon Bark, Cardamom pods, and zesty Crystallized Ginger. It captures the nostalgia of autumn without the sugar crash.

Why It Works

This is essentially a "Fall Chai." The base is strong enough to cut through milk, while the spices provide that familiar warming sensation. The secret ingredient is the Crystallized Ginger. Unlike dried ginger, it offers a chewy, candied heat that lingers on the palate, mimicking the richness of a baked dessert.

The Latte Ritual

Be your own barista. This tea was designed to be milky. Brew a double-strength concentrate (use 2 teaspoons per cup), steep for 4 to 5 minutes, and top with frothed oat milk and a drizzle of maple syrup. It is richer, cleaner, and far more satisfying than the drive-thru version.

Want the full step-by-step? We published two ways to make it: the 13-minute stovetop Pumpkin Chai Latte, equal parts Pumpkin Spice and our Chai, and the 5-minute Pumpkin Spice Tea Latte for busy mornings.

Each tin brews about 40 cups, roughly $0.53 per cup.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: The scent of October. It smells like cinnamon rolls and warm spices.

Flavor: Bold and spicy. The black tea provides a malty backbone, while the ginger and cinnamon create a lingering, tingling heat.

Finish: Smooth and warming.

Why You'll Love It

Warming Spices: Cinnamon and Ginger are "thermogenic" herbs, meaning they naturally warm the body and stimulate circulation. This is why we crave them when the weather turns cold.

Real Ingredients: Most "Pumpkin Spice" products are made with synthetic lab flavors. We use whole botanicals. You can see the cinnamon bark and cardamom pods in every scoop.

A few notes from our teamakers.

  • The Dirty Pumpkin: Brew a shot of espresso and mix it with a strong cup of this tea for a high-octane morning kick.
  • Stovetop Simmer: Make a big batch of "Chai" by simmering the leaves in a pot of milk (or almond milk) and honey for 10 minutes. Strain and serve to guests.

Your Questions About Pumpkin Spice, Answered.

Does it taste like pumpkin?

It tastes like the *spices* used in pumpkin pie (Cinnamon, Cardamom, Ginger). It does not contain actual pumpkin squash, so it doesn't have that vegetal or "squashy" flavor. It is a spice-forward tea.

Is this seasonal?

Yes. We release this blend every autumn, from late August through December, and retire it when the season ends. When it's gone, it's gone until next fall.

Is it pre-sweetened?

Not really. It is not a sugary powder mix. However, we use Organic Crystallized Ginger, which is ginger root cooked in cane sugar. This adds a tiny hint of sweetness and texture, but the tea itself is not "sweet."
